• Recommendations vs. Moving Targets

Experience evolves and so do recommendations.

The problem with recommendations, with advice of any kind, is that the perspective is changing over time. In fact, the perspective, the impression and the analysis of events is continually evolving and cross-influenced by conflicting and matching developments alike. Everything is changing and so is the view and the take on things that occur even repetitively and seemingly predictable and stable.

Take one event and your analysis, determine your perception, and pinpoint the first occurrence of your opinion. Now, subsequently, re-interpret said event over time and compare your insights and the conclusions you draw from that one single instance. The event has already taken place, it is the observer who is evolving and thus revolving around the target. Please bear in mind that so far, we are talking about non-moving targets and the always changing perception of that which actually stays the same.

Enter moving targets. Do you think you're ever going to be able to state anything definite about something indefinite? With moving targets and moving observers you get the ultimate experience of infinity. No single moment stays the way it is, no single combination of events does ever repeat and no single impression is likely to be recreated.

A recommendation itself is a moving target. It is instantaneous and only applicable to the very situation it was tailored to. The idea of generic or universal advice is only sustainable with knowledge and wisdom added on the spot, at the moment of application, the generic advice becomes definite and loses its universal compatibility. In other words, a generic idea has to be applied specifically, with the added value and under the impression of the situation at hand.

In the end, the ultimate advice is the idea-stimulating, the mind-bending, and the virtually most disturbing piece of information which -- at the right time -- triggers the creation of something new. Test this by comparing any arbitrary advice, its application and the resulting events. Most of the time, the original seed is not only not visible anymore, even less so, often, the original intention is turned upside down.

Conclusion: Situations match abstract concepts. It takes a creative moment to pair the abstract with the tangible and eventually create a new, different, evolved quality. Of course, everything is relative, nothing is good nor is everything bad, actions are only appropriate or inappropriate. But this again, is a matter of perspective.
